Pet Tips

Train don't complain!

One of the most common complaints of dog owners is that their dog is unruly. Every dog no matter the age will benefit from some form of obedience training. This will actually teach YOU how to train your dog.

There are a two forms of obedience training. Classes & private lessons. While private lessons are great, there is also a need to join a class. Classes help to socialize your dog to other people and other dogs!

To Groom Or Not To Groom

Does your pet need professional grooming?

Ask yourself these questions!

1. Is your dogs coat matted or tangled?

2. Do you find dog hairs all over your house?

3. Do your dogs toe-nails look like bear claws?

4. Does your dog smell like... a DOG?

If you can answer yes to any of these questions then your dog cam benefit from a

professional grooming!

Most pets do very well with a pro-grooming about every 4 - 8 weeks, depending on breed & coat condition.

Pet Foods

I always recommend feeding quality pet foods.

Yes you can buy pet food at the grocery store for less, but is it really less?

Your dog will eat much less food per meal on a high quality food. You'll also have less waste. Yes less poop to scoop!! Why?? Because your dog will utilize more of the food because the ingredients are a higher quality and more easily used by the body.

Your pets health and coat will also benefit from feeding a high quality food. Less vet bills!!

10 Things NOT To Do With Your Dog

1.  Do not leave your dog in a hot car. (you'd think we'd all know this, but you'd be surprised!)

2.  Do not let your dog sleep on the bed. (on the bed is a spot for the ALPHA position in the pack. YOU are alpha NOT your dog!)

3.  Do not open your door and let your dog roam! (dogs get lost, hurt and even killed being out roaming the streets!)

4.  Do not feed your dogs bones of any kind! (another one you'd think we'd all know but...)

5.  Do not breed your dog unless you are breeding for the right reason! (confirmation, temperament and HEALTH!)

6.  Do not leave your dog out in a hot yard without shelter, water and shade!

7.  Do not leave a "choke collar" on your dog when he is unattended. (dogs have gotten hung on fences, decks, caught up with other dogs while playing and other horrible consequences of leaving these collars on all the time)

8.  Do not let your dog ride on your lap while you are driving! (should I say, "accident waiting to happen!")

9.  Do not use any over the counter or prescription drugs on your dog without your vets approval.

10.  Do not forget to license your dog! A name tag is good too! This could mean the return of your dog if he does get out and get lost.

The Importance Of Spaying & Neutering

All dogs should be spayed or neutered!!

Why you ask? First because there are already MORE dogs in the world than there are good owners for them. Thousands are put to sleep each week because of overpopulation!

Anther reason for having your pets spayed & neutered is their health! Females that are spayed young have less risk for cancers that effect the female organs.

Males neutered young have less risk of cancers that effect the male organs.
